Autograph letter signed : Welwyn, to Archibald Henderson, 1905 Jan. 3-17.

An extraordinary fifty-four page letter from Shaw to Henderson, an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at North Carolina University, who wished to write a biography of Shaw and solicited his help. In this letter, written over the course of two weeks in 1905, Shaw offers Henderson a witty summary of his life, saying that "a thorough biography of any man who is up to the chin in the life of his own time as I have been is worth writing as a historical document."
